OC Tactical Units CourseIn day-to-day activities, the officer will find her/himself engaged in duties related to crowd control. These tasks may consist of controlling crowds at concerts, rallies, sports events, fairs, etc.
The officer must be equipped with the knowledge and equipment to handle this wide spectrum of protection of life and property. The proper use of OC not only helps the Officer restore order, but also reduces the chances for injury to officers and the offenders. On the other hand, if used improperly or indiscriminately, OC can cause serious liability issues. It can also lead to complaints of excessive force.
This block of instruction is to familiarize the student with the use of OC Tactical Units in a crowd control situation.
Course Tactics consist of: deployment methods for Dispersion grenades, Extraction grenades, crowd control foggers, and decontamination procedures.
This course is approximately 2 hours long
It is recommended that the students first attend a crowd control management course prior to taking the OC Tactical Units Course.
